Although the design of waterflood facilities clearly lies within the realm of the engineering function, it is vitally important that there is an integration with staff from all relevant disciplines so that the facility meets project requirements for the full life cycle of the field. The subsurface and surface systems are intrinsically interlinked, and it must not be forgotten that the installed facility must be operable, so it is critical to involve the operations function throughout the design process.
