Author Biography

Leland E. Burch grew up in Greer, SC where he attended Greer High School. After graduating from Wofford College, Burch married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Janice Griffin, and returned to his hometown to begin a lifelong career in journalism with the family's weekly newspaper "The Greer Citizen." The Burches are parents of four sons, Eddie, Joey, Preston and John David. After retiring as editor of The Greer Citizen, Burch has been compiling the best of his award-winning newspaper columns into a series of books. The first, "Greer, SC - the Center of the Universe," is devoted to Greer people, places, events and history, and was published in December 2013. The second book, "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" features a variety of topics as will the third book to be published in late 2015. Active in community affairs, Burch has served as a member of the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Commission since 1985. He is an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Greer, past President of The Greer Lions Club, a founding board member of the Greer Heritage Museum, a director of the Greer Christian Learning Center, co-founder of The Greer Rose Society, and past President of the South Carolina Rose Societ
