Many genealogical researchers come to the Frederick County Court House but are unaware of the wealth of information that is in City Hall." The wills transcribed in this volume were recorded in Winchester City Hall, 1794-1894.
The abstracts herein were taken from four books: Book 1, 1794-1823; Book 2, 1824-1874; Book 3, 1874-1884; and Book 4, 1884-1894. In addition to the full name of the deceased, these records offer a rich source of names, which may include spouse, children, relatives, witnesses, and/or others. "Items chosen from Inventories and Estate Settlements are meant to give clues to occupation and financial/community status." A full-name index adds to the value of this work.
